Local Area Information

Sarigerme

THE TOWN

Sarigerme is a one street town, which has everything you might need.

Many bars and restaurants, little supermarkets, shops, selling jewellery, leather and handbags, clothes and other popular items.

There is a chemist, hairdressers, opticians, post office, ATMs and taxi rank.

On Wednesday the market comes to town where you can pick up some bargains and perhaps have a famous Turkish pancake for breakfast.

THE BEACH

Sarigerme has a stretch of beach 6km long. It has The Blue Flag award for cleanliness.

The main public beach at the western end is truly beautiful, with pine trees for shade, and a wide sandy beach.  The sea is very safe for children and the water sports sections are clearly segregated with no bathing allowed in these sections for safety reasons.  There is a lifeguard on duty and a first aider available in the summer.

This beach is within a nature reserve and because of this there is a very small entrance fee per adult. This income goes towards the upkeep and services for the beach. Car parking is now available along side the beach and this is free.

Facilities on the beach include a cafe, picnic area, children’s park, showers changing rooms and W.C.

From the beach, the town or The Royal Links you can catch the local bus (three times an hour) to Ortaca, which along with Dalaman, is the main town of the area.

Local Beaches

Sarigerme Beach  - 15 minute walk from the town or approximately 5 Lira in a taxi.

Asi Bay - beautiful quiet secluded bay situated between Sarigerme and Dalyan. A small restaurant is situated on the beach serving fresh fish. Please ask for directions to this bay.

Iztuzu Beach - This is the main beach of Dalyan, a beautiful long stretch of white sandy beach. There are restaurants and facilities at both ends of the beach. The end closest to Sarigerme is ideal as it is less busy. Whilst here take time to visit the Turtle sanctuary at the back of the beach. Young Turkish volunteers run this with a lot of knowledge about the famous Turtles breading on this beach.
